Day 1 — Jakarta: Old City & Colonial Heritage
  • Picked up from your hotel or airport in Jakarta. Begin the overland adventure with a walk through the Old City — exploring Kota Tua, the historic Sunda Kelapa port, and Jakarta’s fascinating colonial museums. Then hit the road toward Bandung.
  • Explore the City of Flowers — Bandung, the cool highland capital of West Java known as “Paris van Java.” Visit the dramatic Kawah Putih crater lake, the volcanic Tangkuban Perahu, the lush hills of Lembang, and the legendary Jalan Braga street. Don’t miss the local culinary scene!
  • Leave Bandung and stop at the fascinating Kampung Naga — a traditional Sundanese village in Tasikmalaya that still lives by ancient customs and rules, untouched by modern life. Continue to the stunning coastal town of Pangandaran.
  • Explore the breathtaking Green Canyon — a pristine river canyon with emerald waters cutting through dramatic limestone cliffs. Then continue the journey east toward the cool highlands of Wonosobo.
  • Rise early for the magical Dieng Plateau — a mystical volcanic highland dotted with ancient Hindu temples, colorful crater lakes, and steaming geysers. Visit Sikidang Crater, Telaga Warna, and the Arjuna Temple complex. Continue to Borobudur for the night.
  • A full morning at the magnificent Borobudur Temple — the world’s largest Buddhist monument. Continue to the nearby Mendut and Pawon Temples, then drive to Yogyakarta. En route, visit the towering Prambanan Temple complex and the hidden underground Sambisari Temple.
  • Explore the natural wonders of Gunungkidul — float through the magical Pindul Cave, descend into the dramatic Jomblang Cave, and stand on the wild clifftops of Timang Beach with its crashing Indian Ocean waves.
  • Dive deep into Yogyakarta’s royal heritage — visit the Keraton Sultan’s Palace, wander through the enchanting Taman Sari Water Castle, and explore the vibrant Pasar Burung. In the evening, join a bicycle tour through local neighborhoods and cap the night with a heartwarming baby turtle release on the south coast at Goa Cemara turtle conservation beach.
  • Hit the road east toward East Java — a scenic 7-hour drive through Java’s dramatic highland landscapes. Arrive at your hotel near Mount Bromo and rest up for the most thrilling morning of the trip.
  • Wake at 2.30 AM for the legendary Bromo sunrise — watch the sky turn gold and pink over one of Indonesia’s most active volcanoes from the breathtaking viewpoint. Descend into the caldera for an up-close encounter with Bromo’s smoking crater. Afternoon, continue to the spectacular Tumpak Sewu waterfall — one of Java’s most dramatic natural wonders.
  • Spend the morning at Tumpak Sewu before driving through the lush Kalibaru coffee and cacao plantations — a fragrant and beautiful stretch of East Java. Continue to Banyuwangi, gateway to Kawah Ijen.
  • Rise before dawn for the extraordinary Kawah Ijen trek — witness the rare and mesmerizing blue fire phenomenon, one of nature’s most spectacular and surreal sights. After the trek, cross to Bali by ferry and drive to the peaceful northern coast town of Lovina.
  • Start the morning with a magical sunrise dolphin watching tour off the coast of Lovina. Then drive south through Bali’s lush interior to the artistic and cultural heart of the island — Ubud.
  • A full day to soak in everything Ubud has to offer — the iconic Tegalalang Rice Terraces, the Sacred Monkey Forest, vibrant art galleries, local markets, and the sacred Tirta Empul water temple.
  • Final explorations around Ubud before driving south to the legendary Kuta and Seminyak area. Enjoy Bali’s famous beaches, sunset views, and vibrant nightlife on your last evening in paradise.
